Course Overview
These classes are made to be taken alongside the core training programme, to develop or supplement the skills you're learning in the core training programme. They can also be taken after you’ve completed training to keep your skills ticking over, or work on pain points!
If you're not sure which class you would benefit from, you can always ask your current or last trainer, or check their thoughts in your most recent course feedback.
Please check the course pre-requisite before booking a place as each class has it’s own requirements.
Learning Objectives
Each workshop, or short course will come with their own objectives. Some will be relaxed sessions, with reps and notes. Some more skill specific. Check the blurb for each workshop to find out more!
Most of our Drop In classes are created by our fantastic trainers, and each compliments our programme in different ways.
-
We require full payment for short courses and workshops. Longer classses will have an option to pay a 25% deposit payment. The remainder of the course fee is due before the start of class.
-
Each workshop is lead by an FA facilitator, or a guest we have invited to teach with us. Check each listing for more info.
-
Probably not for these ones. It’s best to start with Level 1: Intro to Long-Form. Some drop ins are available for graduates of level 2, but please do check the pre-requisite on the class before you book!
-
Occasionally, students with significant long form training are allowed to join these classes. Please email hello@thefreeassociation.co.uk to check your eligibility.

FA training pushes you to become a better improviser through structured courses, notes and feedback. Our teaching has been developed around a core theory and approach to improv comedy that we build upon through each class of our courses, taking you from fundamentals up to more advanced comedic techniques.
Our teachers are encouraging and supportive of learning new skills but also will give personalised notes to help you identify areas you can work on to develop further.
