Refund Policy

  • You can cancel your purchase up to 2 weeks prior to class start date for a full refund.

  • Your deposit (which is 25% of the full class price) is non-refundable within 1 week of class start date.

  • If you cancel within 2 weeks of class start date, we will refund half of the deposit.

  • For one-off workshops and short courses, half of the fee is refundable if cancelled within 2 weeks of class start date and non-refundable within 1 week.

  • Under certain circumstances we may be able to defer your tuition to a future class, but this is done so at our discretion.

  • If you drop out during a course, you are not eligible for a refund and will be required to pay any outstanding fee owed.

Changing Your Booked Class Prior to Start Date

  • More than 2 weeks prior to class start date, it’s free of charge to move you to another available class.

  • Within 2 weeks of class start date, moving classes incurs a £25 admin fee and can only be made to a course that runs concurrently over the same weeks.

  • Intensive classes are not possible to move from within 2 weeks of start date as there are no concurrently running classes. If you can no longer attend the intensive class it will count as a cancellation.

  • It is not possible to change class part-way through a course.

Training T&C’s

  • Classes will begin promptly at the designated time (as shown on the website). Please make sure to arrive to class in good time. If you are going to be late for any reason, please contact your teacher in advance. Regular failure to arrive on time, unless you have a valid, teacher-approved reason, may result in exclusion from that class.

  • In every level, there is a lot to learn, so it is important to attend every class. We appreciate that this is not always possible, however you must attend 6 out of 8  classes in order to progress to the next level. We must ensure that all our students are at the same level so we can maintain the quality of teaching at all times.

  • If you miss a class, it may be possible, but not guaranteed, to attend a make-up class free of charge, in the same week. If you know of a class you are going to  miss, please let your teacher know as early as possible so they can arrange the make-up class for you.

  • If you miss more than 2 of your regular classes you will be required to repeat that course before moving on to the next.

  • Because you learn as much by watching as you do by learning in class, at The Free Association we insist that students attend at least 1 Free Association show per course. Shows will be discussed briefly in class, and you will be expected to demonstrate your attendance. Students have discounts to most FA shows and some, like our class shows and Harold night, are FREE for students. Please check the website for show information.

  • Every class will have a 15 minute break, during which you can snack, make calls, etc. Please do not eat or use phones during class.

  • We advise you to wear comfortable clothes that you can freely move about  in. Shoes must be worn at all times in class.

  • To book your place on a course, a deposit payment of 25% of the course fee is  available (you are also free to pay the full amount immediately). If you pay an initial deposit, your outstanding payment is due before the first class. Please make sure this payment is made on time. Please email us (hello@thefreeassociation.co.uk) if you have any questions regarding payment.

  • Outstanding fee payments must be made before your first class (link in the invoice contained in your tax invoice email). Late payments incur a £25 fee.

  • Entry into Levels 2 and above requires completion of all the requisite previous levels. Some students may be allowed to begin at Level 2, if they have significant  improv training elsewhere. This is based purely on the discretion of the Head Teacher.

  • For levels 3, 4 and 5, there will be a public class performance at the end of the course. The date for this performance will be discussed at the beginning of the  course.

  • At The Free Association, we are dedicated to providing a fun, comfortable and  supportive training atmosphere. Please ensure that you respect this at all times. We reserve the right to exclude any student for behaviour that we feel contravenes our principles. If you have an issue with another student – or teacher – in class, please do contact us and we will endeavour to resolve it quickly and discretely.

  • Participants acknowledge that improv training involves physical movement and performance-based activities, which carry inherent risks. By attending, participants accept full responsibility for their well-being and any potential injuries. The organisation and its trainers shall not be held liable for accidents or injuries occurring during sessions.
