If you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. But what if the hammer is your work? Does everything look like that? Meet four characters whose work has shaped how they see the world, how they think, and perhaps even their deepest desires.

• A shy accountant who tells an old friend why he slept with his wife.

• A hard-bitten astronaut who faces her most challenging mission yet, one

night, at home.

• A therapist who helps a young woman decide whether to settle.

• And a spoiled mum reconsidering her Englishness after a reunion at an A&E.

These four monologues cover themes such as love, work, ambition, lust, automation, motherhood, therapy, male pride and confidence, integration, and accountancy. Expect rhythm and rhyme, heart and bile.

They are united by themes of love and work, in a style somewhere between the rhythmic rhymes of Hamilton, the gentle storytelling of Alan Bennett’s monologues, and the performance poetry of Kate Tempest and Luke Wright.

New writing, directed by Stephanie Fuller, written by former political speechwriter Asher Dresner,as part of the Camden Fringe.
